Dear Colleagues,
We are proud to invite you to the 4th electronic conference, with the topic of Climate Change and Health in a broad perspective.
This means that we invite papers on a wide variety of health consequences of climate change in all regions of the world. The health effects could be very different if we increase the temperature from 5 to 10 °C compared to an increase from 35 to 40 °C. If we look at the mortality causes associated with climate change, the burden is obviously higher in tropical areas. However, if we add morbidity and complications for, e.g., reproductive health and pregnancy care, the situation might be very different. The spread of infectious diseases related to vector migration is also a very important topic, as is the situation of environmental exposure to contaminants and occupational health. We leave these topics to you with an open mind. Please participate and contribute to a high-quality conference with good science, and good and important messages to stakeholders and policy-makers around the world. We wish you a warm welcome to our electronic conference.

Jon Øyvind Odland, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Global Health at NTNU, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a specialist in GYN/OB, environmental medicine, and epidemiology. He has worked on mother/child programs in more than 20 countries, focusing mostly on the Arctic, southern Asia, and Africa. His studies have mostly focused on the impact of the environment and infectious disease on fetal development and pregnancy outcome. He has a scientific production of ca. 200 peer-reviewed papers and is now involved in a new study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers, the healthcare system, and the general population in southern Africa.

For over 30 years, Dr. Pál Weihe has led the Department of Occupational Medicine and Public Health in the Faroe Islands and, for part of this period, as Medical Director of the Faroese Hospital System. He also is an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Faroe Islands, a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a Visiting Scientist at the Institute of Public Health at the University of Southern Denmark. Between 2005 and 2016, Dr. Weihe served as Chair of the Faroese Board of Public Health. Dr. Weihe is deeply committed to serving his community through the provision of medical care and devotion to his work on minimizing community exposures to marine contaminants. Specifically, he has conducted the examinations of over 3000 Faroe Islanders of five prospective studies of birth cohorts exposed to marine contaminants associated with neurotoxicity, growth, and development, immunotoxicity, and endocrine disruption. He is also involved in other research areas such as reproductive toxicological studies of time to pregnancy and semen quality as well as age-related functional deficits and degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease and cardiovascular diseases, concerning lifetime exposure to methylmercury and persistent lipophilic contaminants. Dr. Weihe has published more than 200 scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books.

Her research focuses on reproductive health, mainly in low-income countries, supervising PhD, Master’s, medical, and midwifery students. Darj started a new two-year international Master’s Program in Global Health at NTNU in 2015 and was the first Director of the National Research School in Global Health for PhD students, collaborating with all major universities in Norway. Previously, Darj was the head of the clinical Dept of Obs&Gyne in Uppsala and is now visiting Professor at Uppsala University, head of the scientific committee for research and development at Dept of Obs&Gyne, St Olavs Hospital in Trondheim, authorized Medical Doctor in Norway and Sweden, member of Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters and now Prof Emerita at NTNU.

He has been involved in several RTCs on new vaccines as well as research projects promoted by the Ministry of University. He is chief of the Post-graduate School of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy and has a scientific production of approximately 170 peer-reviewed papers. His research and practice focus on how the built and natural environments influence physical activity and obesity and on better measurement of behavior and context. He is Editor of the Health Behavior, Chronic Disease and Health Promotion Section of IJERPH. Dr. Berrigan is strongly committed to research aimed at health for all via environments and institutions that support healthy choices, preventive services, and health care regardless of demographic or economic circumstances.

On 2003 he became Master of Science cum laude in Physics at the Messina University, Italy. On 2007 he became Ph.D. in Physics at the Messina University, with excellent final assessment. From July 2007 to December 2008 he was research assistant at the Department of Physics of the Messina University. From December 2008 to June 2014 he was Expert Physicist at the Science Faculty and at the Department of Physics of the Messina University. From July 2014 to December 2020 he was PhD researcher at the Agency for Environmental Protection of Calabria, Italy. From December 2020 to today he is Assistant Professor at the University of Messina, Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Physics and Earth Sciences (MIFT). For the academic years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 he was adjunct professor of Applied Physics at the University of Messina. His current position as Chief Statistician at the VA Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center (Boston, MA) involves working on several large clinical studies. Addtitionally, he holds an Adjunct (Full) Professor appointment at Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine. His areas of intest include epidemiological risk assessment and statistical modelling of etiologic factors associated with seasonality and climate. He has over 250 publications, which have been cited ~11,000 times (i10-index=145, h-index=59).

Senior Associate Researcher at the CNR Institute for the BioEconomy in Bologna. He deals with superficial energy balances in the urban environment, mitigating the effects of the interactions between atmosphere and buildings and the impacts on population wellness. In addition, he collaborates with the Public Administrations on the themes of the SECAP regarding sustainable planning for the Climate chapter and urban regeneration processes. Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Thuringia Clinic Saalfeld, Teaching Hospital of the University of Jena since 2010. Fellow of the American Association of Gastroenterology (AGAF). Other professional memberships include German Association of Gastroenterology (DGVS), Bavarian Association of Gastroenterology (BGFG), German Association of Internal Medicine (DGIM). Research focus: role of gut microbiota in the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases, role of probiotics in gastrointestinal tract, effect of stress on gastrointestinal tract, role of melatonin in pathophysiology of gastrointestinal tract and liver (“gut clock”), molecular and physiological mechanisms of gastrointestinal protection, impact of H.pylori infection on pathogenesis of peptic ulcer and gastric cancer, molecular mechanisms of Barrett metaplasia. He was Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Hospital de Santa Maria, and Full Professor of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine of Lisbon, and Full Professor of Parasitology at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical. Currently he is member of the Instituto de Saúde Ambiental at the School of Medicine at the Universidade de Lisboa, and collaborate with the School of Medicine of the University Eduardo Mondlane (Maputo – Moçambique) ant the Hospital Dr. Ayres de Menezes (Ministry of Health – S. Tomé e Principe) in the fields of HIV and Hepatitis (research and training). He was President of the European Conference of HIV (EACS 1999), European Congress on Tropical Medicine and Tropical Health (2002), and International Congress of Infectious Diseases 2006), and member of several International and European Conferences on HIV, Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine. He is currently a Professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Faculty of Sport Sciences. Since 2014 he leads the Performance and Sport Rehabilitation Laboratory at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. His line of research focus on muscle and tendon adaptations and sports performance assessment in racket sports (mainly badminton). He has published more than a hundred publications, of which 94 are in the Science Citation Index (Web of Science) with JCR impact. He has been the principal investigator (IP) in six research projects.

She has a long-standing expertise in the characterization of single-molecule electrical and optical properties of organic and biological materials on surfaces, by means of advanced electronic and optical spectroscopies and microscopies. In the last years, these competences in the characterization of hybrid junctions and low dimensional systems have been devoted to the design and characterization of high-sensitive biosensors for the detection of biomarkers of clinical interest. At the same time, she opened towards new research perspectives, by translating her competences into the study of wider biological systems, such as food matrices (whose traceability and nutritional values can be investigated by advanced spectroscopic techniques) and leaf surfaces. In particular, she developed new methodologies for the quali-quantitative characterization of the airborne particulate matter removed by plants from the atmosphere, also in connection with the specificity of the particle-surface interaction and of the pollution source. Recently, this activity in forestry research, lead her to the study of the impact assessment, at wide range, of Nature-Based Solution, both in urban and in extra-urban sites.

She is currently a Senior Research Scientist and Program Coordinator at EcoHeath Alliance, a non-profit research organization based out of New York City, and holds an adjunct position at the Australian Institute of Tropical Health & Medicine at James Cook University in Cairns. Dr Firth’s research focusses on the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of emerging zoonoses at the human-animal interface, with a focus on rapidly changing environments. She takes a multi-disciplinary approach to this work that includes evolutionary biology, molecular ecology, virology, pathogen genetics and genomics, field biology, and public health.

Currently Dr. Collier is investigating how sleep disturbances in firefighters and police officers make deleterious changes within the cardiovascular and autonomic nervous systems following nocturnal shift scheduling. Sleep disturbances have been found to increase hypertension and cancer within these populations. Dr. Collier is a Full Professor at Appalachian State University and is the Faculty Director of their Nationally Competitive Scholarships and has an adjunct professor in Italy (Adjunct Faculty/Inter-Professional PhD Program in Università degli Studi di Roma “Foro Italico”, Rome, Italy and Ordinario di Metodi e Didattiche delle Attività Sportive Coordinatore del Dottorato in Scienze Applicate a Benessere e Sostenibilità Delegato del Rettore per la Didattica e lo Sport Dipartimento di Scienze Teoriche e Applicate (DiSTA) for over 10 years.

He also serves as Adjunct Professor in Post-graduate programs at the University of Athens and the Hellenic Open University. He has conducted research in mortality, morbidity, and exposures across various occupational groups, in psychosocial risks, musculoskeletal disorders, and stress, stress management and health promotion, population health and wellbeing, and health services. My name is Sandra Rebelo and I am Portuguese. I am Assistant Professor at Medical Sciences Department of University of Aveiro, Portugal. I did my bachelor degree in Biology, my Master in Molecular Microbiology and my PhD in Biochemistry (Neurosciences). In 2011, he has accorded the title of a Certified European Registered Toxicologist ‘ERT’ by the Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology EUROTOX. In 2014, he has granted Adjunct Professor in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Submission
Submissions should be made by authors online by registering with www.sciforum.net, and using the "New Submission" function once logged into the system.
- Scholars interested in participating with the conference can submit their abstract (about 200-300 words covering the areas of manuscripts for the proceeding issue) online on this website until 10 July 2022.
- The Conference Committee will pre-evaluate, based on the submitted abstract, whether a contribution from the authors of the abstract will be welcome for the 4th International Electronic Conference on Environmental Research and Public Health. All authors will be notified by 31 July 2022 about the acceptance of their abstract.
- If the abstract is accepted for this conference, the author is asked to submit the manuscript, optionally along with a poster and/or PowerPoint and/or video presentation of their paper (only PDF), until the submission deadline of 28 August 2022.
- The conference proceedings papers and presentations will be available on https://sciforum.net/event/ECERPH-4 for discussion during the time of the conference 15–30 October 2022 and will be published in Journal Environmental Sciences Proceedings.
- The accepted papers will be published free of charge in the journal Environmental Sciences Proceedings of the conference itself. The open access journal IJERPH will publish a Special Issue of the conference to include extended and expanded version of conference proceedings papers, with a 15% discount on the article processing charges (the submission to the journal is independent from the conference proceedings and will follow the usual process of the journal, including peer-review, APC, etc.).

Manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word or any other word processor and should be converted to the PDF format before submission. The publication format will be PDF. The manuscript should count at least 3 pages (including figures, tables, and references) and should not exceed 6 pages.
Presentation Slides
Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the manuscript. slides, if available, will be displayed directly in the website using Sciforum.net's proprietary slides viewer. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results can be presented. Slides should be converted to the PDF format before submission so that our process can easily and automatically convert them for online displaying.

- MS Word: Manuscript prepared in MS Word must be converted into a single file before submission. Please do not insert any graphics (schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the text and make the layout very difficult.
- LaTeX: Manuscripts prepared in LaTeX must be collated into one ZIP folder (include all source files and images, so that the Conference Secretariat can recompile the submitted PDF). Manuscript Preparation
- Paper Format: A4 paper format, the printing area is 17.5 cm x 26.2 cm. The margins should be 1.75 cm on each side of the paper (top, bottom, left, and right sides).
- Paper Length: The conference proceedings paper should not be longer than 6 pages. The conference manuscript should be as concise as possible.
- Formatting and Style: The paper style of the Journal Proceedings should be followed. You may download the template file to prepare your paper (see above). The full titles and the cited papers must be given. Reference numbers should be placed in square brackets [ ], and placed before the punctuation; for example [4] or [1-3], and all the references should be listed separately and as the last section at the end of the manuscript.
- Authors List and Affiliation Format: Authors' full first and last names must be given. Abbreviated middle name can be added. For papers written by various contributors a corresponding author must be designated. The PubMed/MEDLINE format is used for affiliations: complete street address information including city, zip code, state/province, country, and email address should be added. All authors who contributed significantly to the manuscript (including writing a section) should be listed on the first page of the manuscript, below the title of the article. Other parties, who provided only minor contributions, should be listed under Acknowledgments only. A minor contribution might be a discussion with the author, reading through the draft of the manuscript, or performing English corrections.
- Figures, Schemes, and Tables: Authors are encouraged to prepare figures and schemes in color. Full color graphics will be published free of charge. Figure and schemes must be numbered (Figure 1, Scheme I, Figure 2, Scheme II, etc.) and a explanatory title must be added. Tables should be inserted into the main text, and numbers and titles for all tables supplied. All table columns should have an explanatory heading. Please supply legends for all figures, schemes and tables. The legends should be prepared as a separate paragraph of the main text and placed in the main text before a table, a figure or a scheme.

It is the authors' responsibility to identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of clinical research. If there is no conflict, please state here "The authors declare no conflicts of interest." This should be conveyed in a separate "Conflict of Interest" statement preceding the "Acknowledgments" and "References" sections at the end of the manuscript. Financial support for the study must be fully disclosed under "Acknowledgments" section.
